Research Paper Introduction

Ask anyone what their favorite form of entertainment is, and you will get many different answers. They can be ranging from watching sports, to going on vacations and spending time with their families, or it could just playing around or the computer. Entertainment is a way for most people to relax, have fun and/or blow off some steam after a long day. But some of the time the form of entertainment they seek is not available to them at that precise moment, so they have to seek it elsewhere, if it can’t be found in the real world or there are no means of getting to it, hey can go online and try to satisfy their craving for a certain form of entertainment. This poses a question, do aspects of virtual entertainment, such as in Second Life, compare to the same aspects in real world entertainment, and how do they differ?

This assignment was fun and interesting. I like going to these places and finding out what was there and seeing if there were any interesting people there. I plan on learning a lot more about places throughout second life, it is already really exciting!Info Island was a fun place to go. It had a bunch of cool information to look at and learn. I looked at a couple of cool places while I there.

The Info Island Library was very expansive. It had a lot of cool exhibits to look at. It had some games that you play on the top floor, which was cool. It had places where you could sit and read and relax. There were many different articles to look at and read.
I found a librarian but when I asked her about the schedule of activities she did not tell me were it was.

The Peace Park inside info island was pretty cool. It had many different types of religion to find out about. You could go into a makeshift style church there to see what it was like. It was a whole garden of peace. There was a little spring fountain thing you could sit by and think about things that you had on your mind. It was a very soothing place.

This snapshot is of the Stonewall Learning Center on Info Island. This place offered all sorts of information on gay, bi, lesbian, and trans gendered people. I thought this was a really cool place because it can get the word out about how people live their lives like this and that it is not as bad as people make t out to be. People just need to look past there outside into their inner person.

This picture is of the Genealogy Research Center. This place was interesting because it had many was to learn about genes and DNA. It had exhibit about finding out where DNA came from. Another was about finding the father Y chromosome.

The island of Themiskrya was pretty cool as well. It had many places you could go and lots of things to do there. It is owned by the Amazon people inside of second life. It was founded by Surina Skallagrison. The one thing I thought was interesting was there was a couple of underwater buildings. I couldn't find the way in but I thought they were fun. The picture is of me by a sail boat. I thought it was cool that you could do that inside of second life, just like the real thing!

This is a snapshot of me on Pondex Island. This place was pretty cool. It seemed to have a lot of things to do. I walked around for a bit and went to the racetrack there. That was cool because you could race other people. The one thing I noticed about the avatars there was that they seemed to be older and more free spirited people. The way they were dressed was provocative. This was a fun place overall.

This picture is of me in Chakryn Forest. It was a cool place. I was not there for very long. It was night there when I went. It seemed like an enchanted forest. I saw a weird talking frog thing and a bunny rabbit dressed up in a suit jacket. Funny and interesting.
I designed my avatar to represent me as a person. I am a simple person and that's what my avatar is. I ave brown hair and a basic complection. My clothing is very simple too. I have a blue t-shirt and a black undershirt. My pants are black as well. Those are my favorite colors.

I really didn't change much about the original avatar that I was given but I tweaked it to what I wanted. I am not very much into major changes to myself but I am open to them if I think they can help me!
Second Life is very interesting and look forward to more inside it.
